RE: Changing 4x4 Suburban axle ratio

I'm having my gears changed in my Ford on monday from 3:73 to 4:30 and the shop worked me up a price of between $1800.00- $2000.00 this includes all new bearings and seals in the back rear, just ring and pinion in the front unless anything else shows any wear.I would think the price should be very comparable for a gm.this is also a very reputable shop that specializes in driveshafts and axles. As for going used I researched this and I get 30% off used parts and it would have cost me $1600.00 - $1800.00 to get who nows what for junk.

RE: Who makes the best power jack in the 3500lbs rating?

fordsunline if your ultrafab just quit suddenly you might want to pull the switch off and make sure one of the wires did not come off the switch, this happened to mine,it's also a must to keep the ultrafab covered to keep the water out, previous to my ultrafab I had an atwood, it was flawless for 5 years, bought the ultrafab because I needed a jack for more tongue weight.

RE: Jayco 32BHDS towing performance

handling wise you should be fine but if your ex has 3:73 gears and you plan on pulling any kind of hills it's gonna struggle a bit power wise

RE: Castaways Update

all the sites in club castaways are nice and relatively the same size with a nice view of the bay and the assateague ponies, most of the sites looked like they had an additional parking space for a boat or extra vehicle, unfortunatly as of now there will not be alot of entertainment for the teens, basically swimming, crabbing(which we done and only got six non keepers in five days)bike riding and a field for playing ball etc.when we booked our trip we almost got a site in the club castaway section, but instead got a site in the 300 section which is still waterfront unfortunately our site was not ready, but I'm glad we decided against the club castaway site because it would not have been worth the extra money.

RE: Castaways Update

we just returned from Castaways we did not get the site we orinally booked 313 because that area was not opened up until friday, the club castaways pool was not opened as of sun.june 29th and they had alot of work to do yet, even when the pool is done it's very small for the amount of sites in the club castaway area.overall the campground is nice but I still think they should have bagged this season,we had permant folks next to us and they told us that the campground would be closing early at the end of the season so that everything could be finished.

RE: Castaways Update

Today the manager finally returned a phone call after my wife left three messages, she said there is a chance that our original site 313 will be ready for tuesday, they still had inspections being done today so they did not know yet what was approved, good news is that no matter what we have a site, what a big relief,I just wish they would have handled the matter more professionally and atleast returned a phone call earlier rather then just letting us hang for several days.

RE: Castaways Update

my wife tried calling last night every couple of minutes and the phone was always busy, she will try again today.you know I never in my life seen something like this, they should have just stayed closed until everything was cleared to open, this is ridiculous 3 days away from the day we are supposed to leave and we don't even no if we are going to have a site, nobody returns your calls, can't get through on the phone most of the time and to late to make other plans now, real nice.

RE: Castaways Update

I'm a bit concerned now after reading these posts because we are supposed to be in site 313,so my wife has a call in for the manager to find out what in the world is going on.I took three days vacation for this trip and I can't wait until the very last minute to know if we got a site because if not we can make other plans.

RE: Any one using a Ford V10 for TV?

I came from a 2004 dodge ram diesel and now have a 2001 v-10 and I'm very pleased with how it pulls even with the 3:73 gears,When pulling with a v-10 gasser you just need to know how to use it's power band and pulling hills in overdrive is not gonna work.

as coolcamp mentioned this pinstripe wheelis the easiest,it will take longer to put the wheel in the drill then it will to remove the glue,I work in a body shop and that's all we use and there are cheaper brands available.

RE: Ford V10 exhaust manifold studs

I had about six broken studs between the two sides,I removed both manifolds and got all the studs out easily, thank god they are stainless, cleaned all surfaces good, put new gaskets in and replaced the studs with grade 8 bolts coated with nickel antisieze.
